Design Associate
The ideal candidate will be truly passionate about design, enjoying the challenges of design projects. Must have the ability to work both individually and within a team environment and have a solid understanding of and proficiency in AutoCAD.
Interacting with Team Members, subcontractors, and partners (at all levels) in a fast paced environment, and sometimes under pressure, is an important part of this role. For this reason, the candidate's ability to remain flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality, is crucial. Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision making ability, and attention to detail are equally important abilities for the Design Associate to possess.
The Design Associate Will
Complete CAD assignments on schedule.
Be able to follow through with design sketches to produce a working set of documents.
Be open to learning specification writing.
Research building technologies and products that may be used in the various project types.
Meet with partners, consultants, and contractors in all phases of design and construction.
Review submittal/shop drawings for compliance with specifications.
Participate in and document progress meetings.
Complete research assignments and provide accurate reports.
Handle the design detailing and CAD drawing production at all levels and phases.
Take accurate field measurements and prepare CAD drawings of existing conditions.
Have the ability to balance multiple project schedules in regard to their time limits and budgets.


Requirements:
Encompass Requires
An associate degree in CAD from an accredited institution is acceptable providing the candidate has a minimum 3-5 years experience in a professional A/E firm.
Ability to work effectively with people from the many facets of the design and construction industries.
A general understanding of the entire design and construction document production process.
Knowledge and experience, in detailing and production of technical drawings
Basic presentation skills utilizing CAD models and Sketch-Up. Hand drawing abilities including sketches and 3D renderings a plus.
Drawing and production proficiency in recent versions of AutoCAD and Sketch-Up.
An understanding of building and finish materials used in the construction industry, material selection and sourcing.
A general knowledge of the building construction process and construction sequencing.
Ability to put together a set of Construction Drawings.
Professional maturity.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Ability to quickly, effectively, and comprehensively problem solve and design, even if under pressure.
Ability to take direction and complete assignments.
Encompass Strongly Prefers
Artistically inclined individual.
Ability to draw and render in various media outlets.
BA degree in Architecture.
Ability to hand sketch and draw.
